A large number of Skibbereen athletes competed last Sunday at the West Cork Cross Country Championships. These were held in Macroom in what proved to be a challenging course.

In the girls u10 Mallaidh O’Neill won her race leading from gun to tape, leading her team home to take 3rd place.
In the boys u10 Mallaidh’s brother Jack came 2nd and the Skibbereen team got 2nd.
In the boys u12 Andrew Collins won his race with a very fast kick over the last 200m. Andrew lead his team home to take gold in the team prize.
In the girls u14 Ellen McCarthy ran a great race to take 3rd. Ellen got a second bronze medal as her team came away with 3rd place.
In the boys u14 Skibbereen got 2nd in the team prize.
Patrick O’Brien won his category in the Master Men.
